The Only Miss Daisy
The Only Miss Daisy

My name is Miss Daisy, and I am the eccentric, eclectic, expressionist. I use objective and subjective reality to tell stories through editorial photographic imagery and film that heals and inspires.

I was born in Mississauga, ON, and grew up with two younger sisters. I believe my strong-willed spirit comes from my Jamaican background, with both parents having a lineage tracing as far back as they can remember to the small island of Jamaica. Growing up, I was surrounded by a big and loving family, always encouraged to never give up and to embrace failure, as it always came with a lesson learned. My mother, an amazing painter and now a teacher, always encouraged me when it came to art projects and presentations that needed a physical component. My father, an engineer, had a way of keeping everything organized and clean by creating routines. As a child, my sisters, father, and I would do science experiments together and attend plays at the local library.

I didn’t always see myself as a creative director; in fact, I once wanted to become a lawyer. I dedicated two years to Wilfrid Laurier University to explore this passion, as I wanted to fight for justice in my community, feeling it was deeply needed. However, I always felt a desire to be free, which birthed the idea of becoming an entrepreneur, and eventually, I transitioned into modeling and creative direction. My heart has always desired constant evolution, which has led me to explore hobbies like roller skating, pole fitness, painting, reading, and writing. Nothing has stopped me from achieving my dreams, and I continue to create stories through photographic editorial imagery, helping to heal and ignite inspiration in others.

My accomplishments are as diverse as my talents. I have walked major runways in Canada, including Fashion Art Toronto and African Fashion Week. I am yoga certified and have taught classes on behalf of the Red Maat Collective, The Villij, Lululemon and more. My editorial works, both client-based and personal, have been published in magazines like Flanelle and Gmaro. Recently, I facilitated a workshop for vocal artists, mentoring them on creative expression and organization during music videos and photo shoots. I have successfully creatively directed various projects, including music videos, visualizers, clothing brand campaigns, product photography, and photoshoots, some of which have been recognized by RBC Music.

My biggest accomplishment to date is having my work showcased at prestigious venues like Union Station, the World Trade Centre, and Lisbon. I am currently preparing for my first-ever solo exhibition, W24EVER, set for 2024, which will be my most intricate work yet.

As I continue to expand, so do my dreams. I move with the wind, and the wind moves me.
